St. John's Nursery School Programs
T/Th or W/F half day from 9:15 - 11:45
The Youngn's program is for our youngest of children, the two year-old age group. Usually their first school experience, children learn to separate from their parents and enjoy it! Youngn's follow a structured routine guided by weekly themes including seasons, holidays, sizes, shapes, colors, and numbers. Each class session the children participate in creative play, a guided lesson with theme based stories and songs, small group craft work, snack, and outdoor play or creative movement. Youngn's allows children to gain independence and confidence, learn to share, listen and cooperate in a classroom setting, and develop characteristics which will affect their life-long love of learning.
M/T/Th half day from 9:00 - 12:00
The Middies program is for 3 and 4 year old children. Middies have weekly themes. During each class the children participate in creative play, circle time where students learn in depth about the theme for the week, music and work on a craft. Students enjoy outdoor play and music every day. Our goal for each child is to provide a fun, developmentally appropriate learning environment and to help develop independent learners.

The Pre-K program is for our oldest children. This program teaches pre-readiness skills through our theme based curriculum. The children's instructional setting exposes them to craft projects, music, literature, movement activities, cooking fun and science lessons. Show and Tell Time is another important part of their program. It helps to develop both verbal and public speaking skills. The children's social skills are enhanced through co-operative play and working in both large and small group settings. The Full Day Pre-K child will have additional lesson time, which further enhances valuable concepts and thinking skills.
Our Pre-K children learn in a fun-loving, happy and caring environment to become independent, self-confident, socially, emotionally and academically well-adjusted youngsters, who will be preparing for their transition into Kindergarten.
Lunch Bunch/Creative Crew
Lunch Bunch and Creative Crew are social opportunities for our Middies and PreK AM students offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. These programs are flexible and children may attend whenever their schedule permits. Children who are attending will need a packed lunch (we do not refrigerate or heat any lunches). Also, please mark your child's lunch box with their name and if it contains peanut items.
Lunch Bunch for Middies is offered 12:00 - 1:30 on Tuesdays, starting in November. Lunch Bunch is a structured social time with a chance to play and interact with fellow students. Activities include inside and outside play (weather permitting), and story time.
Creative Crew offers a chance for PreK students to extend the curriculum in the areas of science, literature, cooking, and other disciplines. The Creative Crew Workshops emcompass many topics throughout the year and often follow the Pre-K weekly and/or monthly themes. The Creative Crew Workshop takes place on each Wednesday from 12:00 - 2:30 so all PreK students have the opportunity to participate.
Students must be signed up for Lunch Bunch and Creative Crew Workshop at least one week prior to the day they are attending (payment should be made at this time as well). Sign ups are available through the school website's parent portal. If you have signed up to attend these programs, but decide not to attend, we will need to charge you for the day as we have provided appropriate staffing for that day. Any cancellations made by the school (due to low enrollment or other reasons) or due to illness will be refunded or credited to another session.
